3M set to pay $10B to $12B to 4,700 plaintiffs for their PFAS pollution

This week 3M admitted to shelling out $10B to $12B to settle a case against them brought by 4,700 plaintiffs, including firefighters with personal injury claims, relating to their chemicals, per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances or “PFAS” pollution in drinking water across the country. The company says they continue to “stand by its handling of PFAS, arguing that the chemicals are safe to humans in the levels that exist in the environment.” Yet they agree to settle a massive payout?
